TukTuk Lingo 🛺 — learn tourist Thai in 5 minutes a day

A free game that teaches you tourist Thai in about 5 minutes a day — enough to greet, order, bargain, and get around with a smile.

🧠 How it works

A curated deck of 259 words and phrases — the ones you'll actually use on a trip — is organised into topics you pick: greetings, numbers, food, getting around, shopping, survival… Each topic is a few bite-size lessons; already know one? Test out of it. Today serves your due reviews first (spaced repetition: back tomorrow, then at growing intervals) and adds the next lesson only when the queue is short. Five minutes a day is genuinely enough.

Words climb a ladder of exercises — recognise, then produce, then produce from sound: tap the meaning, tap the Thai, build sentences from word tiles, fill the gap, and finally say it out loud before revealing. Missions put it all together in short trip conversations: the taxi, the street-food stall, the night market.

Thai is a tonal language, so the Tone Trainer drills your ear on the five tones with real minimal pairs (mǎa 🐶 vs máa 🐴), tracking which tones trip you up and serving you extra reps of those.

Curious about the script? The Alphabet section teaches all 44 consonants and the core vowels in bite-size lessons — including tracing the letters with your finger, the way Thai kids learn them.

Correct answers earn XP, XP fills the level bar at the top, and levels carry increasingly honorable titles — everyone starts as a Backpacker; very few become Honorary Thai. Daily streaks 🔥 keep you honest.

🔊 Real Thai audio

Every word is voiced by neural Thai voices (a male and a female speaker, matching your ครับ/ค่ะ setting), with a 🐢 slow-replay button everywhere. What you hear is what you'll hear in Bangkok. You can listen without signing up: the phrasebook has every word, in both voices.

🎁 Free, no catch

No ads, no paywall, no tracking. You don't even need an account — progress lives in your browser, and signing up is only for syncing it across devices. Built by one person learning Thai for their own trip, polished into something worth sharing.
